LMPD: Man dies in hospital hours after shooting in west Louisville

Over seven hours after police found a man who had been shot Monday morning, authorities say he has died from his injuries.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead over seven hours after police found him suffering from a gunshot wound Monday morning in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.

At about 4:45 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a shooting at 25th and Crop streets, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to UofL Hospital where officials say he later died. He was pronounced dead from his injuries at approximately 12:30 p.m.

The LMPD Homicide Unit is now leading the investigation into this case as a murder. There are currently no known suspects.
