Coroner identifies man found shot and killed inside apartment near UofL campus

A 19-year-old was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 19-year-old man is dead after he was shot multiple times inside an apartment Tuesday morning near the University of Louisville.

At about 12:30 a.m., Louisville Metro Police responded to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Bellamy Place on report of a shooting, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found Tayshawn Thomas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment. LMPD and Louisville Fire crews attempted life-saving measures, however, he was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

"The property is not affiliated with the university. The victim was not a UofL student or affiliate. LMPD is leading this investigation and may have more information," UofL spokesperson John Karman said.
