Man hospitalized after shooting in California neighborhood

Louisville police found a man believed to be in his 20's suffering from a gunshot wound on Monday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is in the hospital after he was shot Monday afternoon in Louisville's California neighborhood.

At about 12:15 p.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a shooting near the intersection of 17th Street and Garland Avenue, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a man police believe to be in his 20's suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered first aid until EMS took over medical treatment and transported him to UofL Hospital.

According to officers on scene, the victim was alert, conscious and talking to officers before he was taken to the hospital. Authorities believe he will survive.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is handling this investigation. There are no known suspects.
