Louisville police investigating after man dies in Smoketown shooting

A man in his late teens or early 20's was found lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A young man is dead after he was shot multiple times Tuesday morning in the Smoketown neighborhood.

At about 1 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a shooting in the 800 block of South Jackson Street, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a man in his late teens or early 20's lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UofL Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is currently investigating this shooting. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call LMPD's anonymous tip line at (502) 574-5673 or utilize LMPD's Crime Tip Portal online.
