LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — A 37-year-old Louisville teacher and coach has been arrested and charged with allegedly seeking sex with a minor.
According to a release from the Attorney General, Brandon Dietz was arrested on November 21 as he was on his way to have sex with someone he believed to be a minor. It is alleged that Dietz requested that the person sent him sexual pictures online before meeting to have sex.
The Attorney General’s Cyber Crimes unit intercepted Dietz as he was on his way to meet up with the “minor” and he was arrested.
He was charged with one count of seeking sex with a minor online, which is a Class D felony. He is currently at Louisville Metro Corrections with a $25,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 23.
Cyber investigators learned that Dietz is a girls softball coach in Louisville as well as a full-time middle school teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools.
Renee Murphy from JCPS confirmed that Dietz is a teacher at Olmsted Academy North. She said that the investigation is still in the early stages and that JCPS is taking the “appropriate steps” to cooperate.
