Pedestrian dies after they were hit by a car on Bardstown Road

The driver remained on scene but was arrested on unrelated charges.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead after he was struck by a car while trying to cross a street Tuesday night in Louisville.

At about 10 p.m., Louisville Metro police responded to an injury accident involving a pedestrian struck in the 3500 block of Bardstown Road, near the Taco Bell, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a pedestrian in the roadway. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators believe the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, was crossing Bardstown Road from West to East when he was struck by a vehicle traveling South on Bardstown Road.

The driver of the car remained on scene and was cooperative, however, the driver was eventually arrested on unrelated charges. Authorities say the driver had a warrant out in a domestic violence case.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling this investigation.
