61-year-old man operating a mobility scooter dies after hit-and-run in Valley Station

Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver after a man was struck and killed Tuesday night in Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing a street Tuesday night in Valley Station.

At about 11:15 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to an injury accident in the 10400 block of Deering Road, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found 61-year-old Dennis Mannell Jr. had been hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before police arrived on scene.

Investigators believe he was operating a mobility scooter and attempting to cross Deering Road in a dark area when he was struck by a vehicle.

Mannell Jr. was transported to UofL Hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
