LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A pharmacy technician is facing felony charges after police say she trafficked drugs out of a Louisville Walgreen's drive-through window.
Louisville Metro police arrested Mellany Rodriguez recently and she was arraigned in court Tuesday. She is charged with the following:
- Unlawful access to a computer.
- Theft by unlawful taking or disposition of a controlled substance.
- Trafficking of a controlled substance.
- Criminal falsification of medical records.
Police say over 21,000 dosage units of Schedule II controlled substances were missing from the Walgreens in the 5000 block of South 3rd Street between May and August. Police say Rodriguez deleted prescriptions from the computer system that were already filled and waiting to be picked up by customers, and then obtained the prescription by "many different methods," most commonly by passing the narcotics to someone in the drive-through.
Police believe she is responsible for 3,060 missing dosage units of Schedule II controlled substances, valued at $5,421.60.
The Walgreen's surveillance system caught all of these transactions on video.
Bond was set at $5,000. Rodriguez is scheduled back in court Jan. 17.
