ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Hardin County authorities have arrested an Elizabethtown man accused of kidnapping a woman and assaulting her on Oct. 17.

The Hardin County Sheriffs Department said they were called to a residence for reports of a domestic disturbance after a woman called her family and told them she was handcuffed in a closet.

Investigators said she was able to get away, and they found her on Pine Valley Drive. They said she was covered in bruises and cuts all over her body.

Officers then went to the original residence and detained 24-year-old Brendon Houk.

They searched the property after getting a search warrant; investigators said they found a towel with blood on it in the laundry basket, a trash can with the victim's cut clothing, and a white sock that was used to gag her.

Authorities also found where she had been handcuffed inside the utility room, as they said there was blood on the floor and on a black pole that was used to secure her to the water tank.

Investigators said they also found blood on the bed sheets.

The woman had been hit with coat hangers, a medical crutch, a toilet plunger and a small black pole according to his arrest citation.

Houk confessed to placing her in handcuffs and tying her to the water tank in his closet while he took a shower; authorities had read him his Miranda Rights. He said he also got cuts and bruises from the woman.

He's charged with kidnapping an adult, assault-domestic violence, unlawful imprisonment and tampering with physical evidence.
