Judge sets $1M bond for man accused in deadly shooting of 15-year-old in Algonquin neighborhood

Adrian King is facing multiple charges following the killing of the teen girl in late January.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man’s bond has been set after he was arrested and accused of killing a 15-year-old girl in the Algonquin neighborhood.

Metro Police said surveillance video led them to 20-year-old Adrian King, who is now charged in the death of Dovia Pernell.

They state the video shows King arriving at the Parkway Place apartment complex in the 1700 block of Patton Court on Jan. 29.

King is seen walking towards Pernell’s apartment with a gun in his hand, later showing the two walking together.

Shortly after, officers responded to the shooting scene and found Pernell shot in the back of the head.

LMPD said the two were involved in a sexual relationship and that King allegedly posted on social media that he was going to kill her.

King is also charged with sexual misconduct and distributing child pornography.

His bond was set at a million dollars by a judge on Tuesday.

King is currently being held at Metro Corrections and expected to be back in court on March 20.

Pernell's family sent this statement to WHAS11 News late Tuesday:

"We are devastated by the loss of our daughter but to learn that she lost her life at the hands of someone she may have believed cared about her makes it all the more painful.

Our family is relieved King has now been arrested so he can hopefully be prevented from victimizing any other children and we are hopeful that justice will be done for Dovia.

In our minds, King is a coward and we look forward to him being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for his horrendous actions and callous disregard for our daughter’s young life."
