Shooting outside PRP-Male football game leaves 1 injured; LMPD investigating

Principals from both PRP and Male High School have responded to the senseless violent incident that happened during Sunday's football game.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Gunshots fired in a parking lot at Pleasure Ridge Park High School has left one person injured.

The incident took place during Sunday’s make up game between PRP and Male High School. Friday’s game was postponed due to weather.

In a letter sent to families, PRP principal Sheri Duff and Male principal Keith Cathey said police had quickly responded to the parking lot and Metro Police were called.

Fans were moved under the stands while players were quickly escorted to the locker room for safety.

Game play was suspended, and people were ordered to leave the premises.

“We do not tolerate violence in any form. As a community, we must work together to support one another. If your student would like to talk with someone about what happened, our counseling and mental health teams are always available,” they said.

Police have not disclosed the victim’s injuries or if they have any suspects.
