JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. — Jeffersontown Police Department seized more than $100,000 in cash and seven ounces of cocaine during a drug bust Wednesday.
Police said officers conducted a traffic stop for traffic violations in the area of Shelbyville Road and S. Hurstbourne Parkway. During the stop, a Jeffersontown Narcotics K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle.
After a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities found the multiple ounces of cocaine and thousands of dollars in "suspected drug proceeds."
Officers said the driver, Daniel Huerta, and the passenger, Jose Moreno, were arrested on the scene. They were both charged with trafficking cocaine.
The two are currently booked at Louisville Metro Corrections.
"This traffic stop underscores the vital role our officers and K-9 units play in keeping our community safe from illegal drugs," Jefferson Police Chief Rick Sanders said. "We are committed to maintaining the safety and security of our streets and will continue to take decisive action against those who engage in drug trafficking."
