SEYMOUR, Indiana — The manager of a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in southern Indiana is facing numerous felonies after reportedly stealing thousands of dollars from her workplace.

Seymour Police Lt. C.J. Foster said the restaurant's management informed authorities on Sept. 6 that 40-year-old Aimee Brooks had been taking money from the store.

He said the KFC employee told police Brooks documented that money was being put into the safe but numbers weren't adding up. The theft had been happening for roughly six weeks and more than $7,000 was believed to be missing, according to authorities.

"During the investigation, evidence was obtained," Foster wrote on social media, but did not explain further.

On Tuesday, authorities found Brooks at her home in Seymour and smelled marijuana coming from the residence. Foster said investigators received permission to search the property and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and equipment for a marijuana growing operation inside the home.

Foster said Brooks admitted to taking money from KFC during an interview with investigators.

She has been charged with multiple level six felonies for theft, neglect of a dependent, and maintaining a common nuisance. Brooks is also charged with two class A misdemeanors for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

According to Foster, charges are also being requested on a number of other suspects.
