SCOTTSBURG, Ind. — A Scott County man was arrested following a child pornography investigation.
A cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to the arrest of Joseph Sullivan, 27, of Scottsburg for three counts of possession of child pornography and/or distribution of child pornography.
Each count is a felony.
The Indiana State Police - Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force in Sellersburg opened an investigation in July after receiving a tip that an unknown person used Snapchat to upload images depicting child sexual abuse material.
Utilizing the information provided in the tip, investigators said they were able to find the exact residence where the images were uploaded. On Jan. 23, ICAC detectives, with the assistance of the Sellersburg Post All Crimes Policing squad, went to the residence and conducted an interview with Sullivan.
A search warrant was granted for a residence. As a result of the investigation, Sullivan was arrested and charged.
The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children, and the Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
