Southern Indiana man convicted in 20-year-old cold case

On Wednesday, David Hollowell was found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl in Charlestown, Ind.

CHARLESTOWN, Indiana — On Wednesday, a southern Indiana man was found guilty of rape, child molestation and burglary after a 20-year-old cold case was reopened last year.

In 2003, a 13-year-old girl was raped and her stepfather, who was trying to save her, was shot. The case went cold in 2005 after two years of investigating.

The case was reopened 20 years later when Charlestown Police Department Detective Jason Broady spoke with an involved family member. Investigators used DNA Analysis to identify David Hollowell as the primary suspect.
