SWAT assists LMPD with shooting in California neighborhood

Louisville Metro Police officers were called to the 1100 block of South 23rd Street just before 2:15 p.m. on reports of a shooting according to authorities.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A person is in the hospital after a shooting happened in the California neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Louisville Metro Police officers were called to the 1100 block of South 23rd Street just before 2:15 p.m. on reports of a shooting according to authorities.

When they arrived, police said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders transported him to the hospital where he is expected to survive.

Investigators said they have detained one person related to the shooting, but can't confirm if they have all parties accounted for yet.

The SWAT team is on the scene assisting LMPD and the Non-Fatal Shooting Unit authorities said.
