LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police arrested three people on Wednesday after a teenager suffered a fatal drug overdose.
Elizabethtown Police officers responded to a residence just before 7 a.m. and found a 17-year-old who had overdosed.
They said they identified the suspect who they believe gave the drugs to him, and took that juvenile into custody by 9:30 a.m. He's been charged with manslaughter, trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking marijuana.
Authorities said they also arrested two adults in this investigation: 18-year-old Damian Felker and 36-year-old Brandon Durbin. Both are from Elizabethtown.
"This tragedy is a direct and devastating consequence of illegal drug distribution," Elizabethtown Police spokesperson Chris Denham said. "Let this serve as a strong message: drug traffickers are not welcome in our community. Those who bring harm to others through their illegal actions will be identified and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
Felker is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Durbin is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
