OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. — Days after an elderly woman was killed in an Oldham County hit-and-run, two people have been arrested Friday.
Jason Edward Cornett, 53, of La Grange, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid and tampering with physical evidence.
Zoe Elise Wolfe, 23, of La Grange, is charged with tampering with physical evidence.
On Nov. 11, officers with the Oldham County Police Department found a woman unresponsive laying in the grass near the roadway on US-42 between KY-53 and Smith Lane, according to the Oldham County Police Department (OCPD).
Authorities said Margaret E. Preble, 75, was struck and killed by a vehicle. The driver had left the scene.
Using evidence collected at the scene, investigators determined the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was a black 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup, owned by Cornett.
On Nov. 13, OCPD and Kentucky State Police - London detectives found Cornett's truck in an auto repair shop in Corbin. Investigators determined the truck matched evidence found at the scene.
According to an OCPD news release, detectives found evidence indicating that Cornett was driving the truck at the time of the fatal collision and had consumed several alcoholic beverages a short time prior to driving.
Investigators determined Cornett made attempts to conceal evidence of his involvement and knowingly drove the damaged truck out of Oldham County the day after the collision to the auto repair shop in Corbin.
