LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police Department officials are asking members of the public if they've possibly been a victim of a man in custody who is accused of taking advantage of the elderly.

LMPD posted on social media Wednesday a photo of Anthony Williams as well as a detailed description of a few crimes he is charged with.

Williams was arrested by LMPD on Tuesday. He is charged with the following:

  • Two charges of knowingly exploiting an adult for an amount over $300
  • Third-degree burglary
  • Theft by unlawful taking an amount over $10,000
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon

LMPD officials said Williams was charged with robbery in December 2023 when he followed a 94-year-old World War II veteran home, assaulted him in his driveway and stole $800 from his wallet.

Williams told detectives at the time that he saw the elderly man in front of him at the store, noticed he had a lot of cash in his wallet and followed him home with the intention of robbing him.

More recently, LMPD is alleging that Williams would regularly target elderly people by knocking on their door, asking if they needed any yard work done or any chores done around the house, then once gaining entry stealing tools, jewelry, cash, etc.

According to police, Williams admitted to stealing a wedding band belonging to one of the victim's deceased wives.

LMPD said in the social media post that there are several valuables in police possession they haven't been able to connect to a victim, and that they believe there are more people Williams took advantage of.

"Mr. Williams has a history of praying on elderly adults for personal gain," LMPD said. "WE BELIEVE THERE'S MORE VICTIMS OUT THERE."

If you believe you may be a victim of Williams, you are asked to call LMPD's tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.
