VIDEO: Louisville man arrested after multi-county pursuit involving a semi

Kentucky State Police said the suspect ingested an "unknown amount of a substance believed to be heroin" after the police chase.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man is in custody after he led Kentucky State Police (KSP) on a multi-county pursuit Sunday night.

According to police, KSP Post 4 received a call from Nelson County Sheriff's Office that officers were pursuing a stolen Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway around 7:30 p.m.

As the pursuit entered I-65 North near Elizabethtown, KSP requested to take over the pursuit. Shortly after, the suspect exited I-65 and headed north on Joe Prather Parkway toward Radcliff, according to a news release. This pursuit ended on Patriot Lane when the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Troopers then discovered the suspect, now operating a stolen semi-tractor trailer, had once again entered I-65. Authorities successfully deployed stop sticks on the interstate in an attempt to end the second pursuit.

At that time, the semi exited the interstate and entered the parking lot of a nearby business before pulling out onto East Blue Lick Road in Bullitt County.

A viewer sent WHAS11 News a video showing the chase. The video was taken near Brooks Hill Road and I-65.

After briefly traveling down East Blue Lick, the semi left the roadway and overturned in a wooded area near the roadway, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The man was transported to UofL Hospital for treatment after KSP said he ingested an "unknown amount of a substance believed to be heroin."

On Tuesday, police identified the man as 31-year-old Joshua Arledge of Louisville. He is still in the hospital but once released he will be taken to the Hardin County Detention Center.

Authorities said he will be charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree fleeing and evading, receiving stolen property, theft of unlawful taking over $10,000.
