CANEYVILLE, Ky. — Two men have been charged for allegedly causing $33,000 in damages from copper wire theft,  according to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

In January, several hundred feet of wire from Windstream Communication were stolen in the Caneyville area, authorities said.

Police were able to use surveillance video, tracking devices and witness interviews to identify 38-year-old Timothy Polston and 54-year-old Anthony Frank as suspects in the investigation.

"The wire thefts caused interruption in Windstream service through the Caneyville area," the sheriff's office said Wednesday. "The actual thefts and vandalism caused over $33,000 in damage...labor hours to repair, time to restore service, and money lost due to downtime totaled over $100,000 to Windstream and its customers."

Both Polston and Frank were indicted by a Grayson County grand jury for theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 but less than $10,000, first-degree criminal mischief, and interfering with communications.

Authorities said Polston was already in jail for violating his probation, but Frank remains at large.
