LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman is hospitalized after being shot while trying to sell merchandise Sunday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) was dispatched to the 900 block of S. 45th Street where they found a woman suffering from a single gunshot wound to the arm. Officers said the shooting happened in the 4200 block of Greenwood and the victim fled the location and called 911.

Officers said they applied a tourniquet to the victim and called for medical services.

The victim told police that her and another woman met up with an unidentified man to sell him some merchandise when he pulled out a handgun and tried to rob the two women. As they sped off from the meeting location, the alleged robber fired a single round, hitting the victim in the arm.

LMEMS transported the victim to UofL Hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery.

The alleged suspect was described as a 5 foot 8 inch Black man with a thin build, "caramel" skin tone, wearing a turquoise hoodie and black pants. LMPD said he was last seen in the area of 42nd and Greenwood Avenue.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating.

If you ever need a public place to sell an item, you can always use one of the four LMPD MetroSWAP Zones around the city. These areas are located outside of some of the department's divisions. There is 24 hour video surveillance.
