ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — A woman is dead and a man is behind bars after a fatal shooting in Elizabethtown this week.
On Wednesday at about 8:30 p.m., Elizabethtown Police Department responded to a shooting on Henon Lane, according to Officer Chris Denham.
Officers on scene found a woman who had been shot and rendered first aid until EMS could arrive. She died from her injuries shortly after.
The Hardin County Coroner identified the woman killed as 37-year-old Kenyeta McWilliams.
Her family has set up a gofundme for memorial expenses.
Police found the main suspect in McWilliam's death, 34-year-old Chris Allen Bell Jr. of Elizabethtown, within an hour of the shooting on Deepwood Drive. There was a brief standoff between officers and Bell before he was finally arrested.
Bell was charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Hardin County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
