LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several students were holding picket signs outside Butler High School Wednesday, protesting a recent decision by the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) Board.

Their signs read "Boycott KSA For Buses," "Fire Marty Pollio," "Give Our Buses Back," and "No Buses, No KSA."

During a special JCPS board meeting on Wednesday, April 10, in a 3-4 vote, board members passed the new transportation plan for the 2024-2025 school year, cutting school bus services for hundreds of students.

Under the new plan, JCPS cut transportation to all magnet and traditional schools in the district except high schools where 75% or more of students qualify for free and reduced lunches. Both Central High School and Western High School students will have district-provided transportation next school year.

Butler High School is one of the schools affected by this decision. Butler is a traditional school and under this new transportation plan students attending Butler will no longer have district-provided transportation.
