Program helps JCPS students with daily enrichment classes

The program specifically targets students in west Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — This program is designed to help Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) students who are chronically absent or just need help catching up in school.

The Elevate Student Learning Center on West Broadway offers daily enrichment classes in music, art, dance and science.

The program specifically targets students in west Louisville.

Students in the program say it's something they've needed.

"I see myself, like, catching up with more of my work, and catching more of my work, and completing more things that I've not completed at school," student Atem Atem said. "And I see myself, grade wise, going up a little more than what I was, catching up more, what I missed out, well, plan other activities, like sports."

The Kentucky Science Center and Fund for the Arts provide some of the classes.
