(WHAS 11)--Engineering students at Jeffersontown High School got out of the classroom and into the water.
The school's 17th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta held May 27 at Kentucky Kingdom's Hurricane Bay.
The boats are made only of cardboard and duct tape.
Students designed them using a computer program and then brought those designs to life and tested them out by paddling around the lazy river.
The goal was to stay dry.
The boats were rated based on time, distance and weight.
The J-Town Mayor and JCPS Superintendent Dr. Donna Hargens stopped by to cheer the students on.
