All Kentucky residents can get in-state tuition at this university in Ohio. Here's why.

In the past two years, this university has seen first-year enrollment from Kentucky increase by 30%.

CINCINNATI — One of the largest universities in Ohio is now expanding the reach of its in-state tuition to include the entire state of Kentucky.

The University of Cincinnati (UC) are offering Metro tuition rates to all students who are Kentucky residents. Previously, these rates were only available in certain neighboring counties.

Now, all Kentucky residents have the opportunity to enroll at UC and pay in-state tuition (plus a $25 surcharge per credit hour). According to a UC news release, for a student taking 15 credit hours per semester, this would be an estimated savings of $7,367 per semester, or $58,936 over the course of four years.

Jack Miner, vice provost for enrollment management at UC, says in the past two years, the university has seen its first-year enrollment from Kentucky increase by 30%, and he's hoping to see that trajectory continue.

"UC has made a commitment to increase access to higher education for this region," he said. "As we look for opportunities to ensure that students and families have a pathway to college, that investment has to include those students throughout the Tristate."
