(INDYSTAR.com) - Spotify users will no longer find any R. Kelly on the its official playlists, company officials announced Thursday.
In accordance to its new new public hate content and hateful conduct policy, Spotify has removed the singer's music from editorial or algorithmic playlists, including popular playlists found on the apps main page like "RapCaviar" and "New Music Friday."
R. Kelly music will also no longer appear or within any of the genre or mood playlists. His music catalog will remain on the service.
In statements provided to Billboard, company leaders will not actively promote it R. Kelly's music, and they want their programming choices to reflect their values.
"When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator," said a Spotify statement provided to Billboard. R. Kelly is the only artist impacted by this new policy so far.
The streaming service announces the move as R. Kelly faces mounting accusations of sexual coercion and physical violence.
Last week, two new accusers added their names to the list of women claiming R. Kelly sexually abused them or their loved ones.
Lizzette Martinez and a woman identified as Michelle spoke to Buzzfeed News about their alleged relationships with R. Kelly when they were teens, with their accounts consisting of underage sex, coercion and physical abuse, describing how the singer takes young women away from their families and cuts off their contact with the outside world.
Both women's stories come after a week where the Women of Color coalition of the Time's Up organization announced support for the Mute R. Kelly movement, urging his record label and corporate sponsors to cut ties with him over the accusations of sexual misconduct against him.
In a statement Friday to the Associated Press, Kelly says the accusations "perpetuated by the media" are an "attempt to distort my character and to destroy my legacy that I have worked so hard to build."
