(FDA.gov) - Shearer’s Foods, LLC of Massillon, OH is recalling Food Lion brand 7.75 ounce packages of Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips because they may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips were distributed to Food Lion stores in NC, SC, GA, PA, KY, VA, TN, DE, MD, and WV between Dec 1st, 2017 and July 19, 2018.
The product comes in a 7.75 ounce bag marked with the UPC # 035826103925 and with lot codes; 03333405, 03234705, 03334705, 03135505, 03100305, 03200305, 03301205, 03101905, 03202605, 03203409, 03303905, 03104005, 03204605, 03105405, 03305405, 03106106, 03106805, 03307305, 03308105, 03108205, 03109005, 03310305, 03110405, 03111105, 03212505, 03312505, 03113105, 03213105, 03314409, 03114509, 03214509, 03115408, 03215408. The lot code can be found on the front of the bag, in the top right corner. A total of 7,797 cases were affected. All but 265 cases of the recalled Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips were shipped to Food Lion distribution centers. The remaining cases were destroyed on site prior to shipment.
The issue was discovered when a consumer suffered an allergic reaction and the incident was reported to Food Lion. Shearer’s Foods, LLC conducted an investigation which indicated that a product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk.
Customers who purchased the recalled product from Food Lion may dispose of it or return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund.
