LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Decorian Curry was 17-years-old when he died after a car drove up to where he and friends were on South 42nd Street.
He died at University hospital early Saturday morning, May 25. Decorian Curry's family said he was killed by a stray bullet in the Shawnee neighborhood.
"I said brother, Yuddy's really gone and it just went on from there," a friend of Decorian said.
Decorian was called Yuddy by family and friends.
"See everyone called him Yuddy, because that's his nickname. So, I called him Yuddy," Dionte Reed, Yuddy’s friend, said.
Reed was also hit by a stray bullet, but he survived.
Reed has known Yuddy since they were young, around the age of 5 or 6.
"Yeah, he's goofy. He'll have you laughing in a heartbeat, he's just funny. I don't know," Reed said.
Reed was also hit by a stray bullet four years ago when he was 13.
"I've only been hit once, but throughout the recovery, my lungs collapsed so it really wasn't that easy for me, " Reed said.

Family friend and community advocate, Christopher 2X said both of Yuddy's older brothers have been hit by stray bullets.
"It's constantly played a part in the fabric of our community for a long time. It's very sad and it's real and no one can minimize that," Christopher 2X said.
Stray bullets, hitting houses, injuring and killing people—just adding to the count of unnecessary victims.
"He meant a lot to me, like he really meant a lot to me. It's all I'm thinking about is he's really gone, I won't be able to see him anymore,” Reed said. “They took a huge part of my heart.”
Reed is graduating this year and will be starting college courses
"I'll be attending JTCT for two years and then UofL," Reed said.
Yuddy was on track to graduate in 2020 and, by all accounts from family and friends, that bullet should have never hit him.
