FLOYD COUNTY, Ind. — The Floyd County Health Department [FCHD] is recommending players, coaches, and families who may have attended a pay-to play sporting event over the June 7 weekend to practice self-monitoring, under the COVID-19 guidelines for the next two weeks.

The health department says those who attended are at risk for the coronavirus infection. They say if those who attended experience any symptoms, which include fever, chills, cough, diarrhea, muscle aches and change in taste to contact their primary care provider or the FCHD for evaluation and testing.

In a media release, the FCHD says it started investigating after being made aware of the event when alleged results were published on the internet.

A reminder was also issued about Indiana's reopening plan and phases. Team sport league play may not resume until June 14. Tournaments involving teams traveling from out of the county cannot start until after July 3, unless circumstances change as new cases are identified, FCHD says.

This is not the first time, the organization has been on FCHD's radar. The agency says a previous issue regarding the organization was reported to a local Little League organization by the Floyd County Parks Department.

Floyd County officials say citizens have done an excellent job in its community response to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Health officials say they are requiring the cooperation and compliance of all Floyd County residents to continue the trend of fewer cases, which will lead to an end of restrictions to business and play.
