LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Officials at Kentucky Community and Technical College System say students who are in need of help during the coronavirus pandemic could be eligible for relief.
The college says eligible students will receive information on how to request for emergency funds for education-related expenses created by COVID-19.
That funding is made possible by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund and authorized by the CARES Act, recently signed into law.
The bill would aid students who may have experienced hardships caused by the pandemic related to housing, childcare, medical care, course materials/technology, extended program length or food insecurity that began on March 18.
Students will receive communication from their home college on how to request funds.
KCTCS has 16 colleges in the Commonwealth, including Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville.
