JCPS hosts physical clinics for students

The school district said holding the exams allows students to check in on their health and prepare for the upcoming school year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools brought free physicals to students on Tuesday who need it ahead of the upcoming school year.

The includes any student who doesn't have a primary care physician and needs a physical to enroll in school or play fall sports.

The school district said holding the exams allows students to check in on their health and prepare for the upcoming school year.

Officials said so far more than 130 kids have already come through and completed their physicals.

"These are important exams because we want kids to be healthy; kids need to be healthy to be able to learn," nurse practitioner Eva Stone said. "There's no cost to parents for these physicals, we are really trying to reach those families that have difficulty accessing healthcare and have lack of access to healthcare."

JCPS will host the physical exams this week and next week.

Officials told WHAS11 News all parents and guardians should have received information about the physicals, but if you don't have the info you can find it here.
