Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - The work for the Jimmy V. Foundation has turned into a year round effort that includes a fundraising event this weekend at Springhurst Tennis club.
Jimmy's brother, Bob Valvano, and the Brown Cancer Center hosted the event. There was dinner and auction with all of the funds going to cancer research.
There were a variety of speakers ranging from cancer survivors to family members who lost someone to cancer.
"It's a great event," Bob Valvano said. "We're raising significant money, and every penny we raise is going to cancer research here in Louisville."
The fundraising continues Sunday, Nov. 2 with a tennis tournament. Bob Valvano will be the umpire for the finals.
