LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Soon, sick Kentuckians will be able to meet with doctors and nurses approved by the Office of Medical Cannabis.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced during a Team Kentucky Update that on Dec. 1, the Office of Medical Cannabis will have a statewide directory of authorized doctors and nurse practitioners on its website.
Those with qualified conditions will need to get written certification from one of those doctors or nurses to use medical cannabis.
"Starting Dec. 1 you can also go ahead and set up that appointment, go in and see one of these authorized practitioners, and if you qualify, they can provide the certification that they upload to the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis," he said.
The governor said there are already more than 154 authorized doctors and nurses.
To help patients understand the process later, they can sign up for one of the webinars on the program's website.
The medical marijuana lottery also continues on Monday with the next round of drawings. This time, for dispensaries.
It will happen again at the Kentucky Lottery at 2 p.m. and will be carried live with YouTube.
More than 4,000 applications have been submitted for just 48 dispensaries statewide.
Monday's drawing will involve nine of the 11 regions, and one dispensary will be awarded for each county in the regions.
However, Louisville and Lexington will get two dispensaries, and their lottery is set for Dec. 16.
