LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Henry County pharmacy has stopped compounding medication on Thursday after three children ended up in the hospital.
The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy alleges Med Save made a medication error when the three children were dispensed a compounded clonidine oral suspension.
The incident started on Sunday with a warning from Henry County EMS.
Investigators from the Board of Pharmacy said several areas at the store were not compliant with standards, including a lack of training, lack of oversight, and missing documentation.
The Board of Pharmacy's Case Review Panel met for an emergency meeting on Wednesday and requested Med Save Pharmacy stop all compounding and dispensing of any compounded medications; the pharmacy signed the order and it's currently in effect according to the board.
According to the report, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, but they believe that only the three children were impacted by the error.
