LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Norton West Louisville Hospital is just months away from opening its doors to the community.
And while construction on the hospital at 28th and Broadway continues, so does the development of the hospital's interior.
The hospital is looking for hundreds of employees. Nearly 300 open positions are posted on the hospital's website.
"This is the big shebang, all of the positions that are available at the hospital are open," Chief Administrative Officer Corenza Townsend said. "To open the flood gates for over 300 more positions for West Louisville, is not only a huge economic boost for West Louisville, but it really tells the story that we're here. We're here to stay. We've got folks coming, they're working. We'll be ready in November."
Townsend said more than 400 people have already applied in the few days the jobs have been posted.
"“I don’t think there will be anything short of getting plenty of people in the community; I tell people all the time, the most important thing is to hire folks who are excited about doing healthcare and are serious about what we’re doing at West Louisville hospital, and Norton Healthcare at large," she said. "Rather you look like me, you look like anyone else, as long as you have the passion to do great patient care. We won’t limit ourselves. We just want the best employee. But yes, we do want folks that look like us and function in West Louisville, live in West Louisville, we want all walks of life.”
Positions are available in areas including:
- Facility engineering
- Food and nutrition services
- Environmental services
- Laboratory services
- Medical assisting
- Nursing
- Patient care assisting
- Pharmacy
- Radiology
- Registration
- Rehabilitation services
- Respiratory care
- Security
- Social work
- Surgical services
Officials said they started hiring key leadership roles late last year as part of a phased approach to hiring.
Open interviews will be held at a Day of Opportunity hiring event on June 11, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center, located at 2820 W. Broadway in Louisville.
"The name of this game is access; we are bring a hospital to the community, we'll bring interview opportunities to the community," Townsend said. "Even if transportation is not an issue, access means convenience, as well. If we're hiring for a facility in West Louisville, it makes sense for us to bring the recruiters and the leaders who will be interviewing to West Louisville, just makes sense."

Norton West Louisville Hospital is scheduled to open in November 2024.
This will be the first new hospital west of Ninth Street in more than 150 years.
