Here's what to expect when Brooks Houck appears in court next week

Brooks Houck is expected to be back in court on Monday. Here's what to expect.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — Nine years after her disappearance over the Fourth of July weekend in 2015, Crystal Rogers' ex-boyfriend, Brooks Houck, will be back in court next week for another hearing.

Houck is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the Bardstown mother's disappearance and presumed death.

On Monday, Houck will be in a Nelson County courtroom again where his attorneys plan to fight the prosecution's motion to combine his trial with the two other suspects charged in Rogers case.

Prosecutors claim father-and-son duo Joseph and Steve Lawson were working for Houck around the time Rogers' disappeared.

Both men are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Special Prosecutor Shane Young has filed a motion to try all three men in one trial, claiming they worked together to kill Rogers and cover up her death.

Houck's attorney wants his client tried separately, however, arguing the Lawsons were pitted against Houck during police interviews using a "get Brooks" mentality.

Earlier this week, Judge Charles Simms denied Steve Lawson's claims of immunity and refused to dismiss his charges.

The judge will hear arguments from both sides on Monday, July 8, at 9 a.m. WHAS11's Shay McAlister will be in the courtroom during the hearing providing updates.
