LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Communities across Kentucky continue to see growth, according to a new report by the University of Louisville.
UofL's Kentucky State Data Center (KSDC) ranked the fastest-growing cities across the commonwealth using U.S. Census Bureau data.
According to the report, Pippa Passes in eastern Kentucky took the top spot with 584 residents in 2023. The small town grew by 20.2% between 2022and 2023, but has seen a 25.6% change in population since the 2020 Census.
Elizabethtown was the fastest-growing large city in Kentucky last year with 3.4% growth.
The Hardin County community is estimated to have moved past Nicholasville and Florence to become Kentucky's seventh largest city, officials added.
However, the fastest-growing large city in Kentucky since 2020 was Richmond, with 37,206 residents in 2023.
Fifty-three cities in Kentucky have seen a population growth of 3% or more since the 2020 Census, according to the data center.

According to Census data, Kentucky's population in 2023 was 4,526,154, which has grown by .4% since 2020.
