Officials: Fire crews contain massive fire at Bowling Green gasoline distribution company

Bowling Green Fire Department spokesperson Katie McKee said two employees were evaluated but refused transportation.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Firefighters worked to extinguish a massive fire at a local gasoline distribution company in Bowling Green on Wednesday.

The Bowling Green Fire Department (BGFD) said the fire was on Raven Avenue, just off Veterans Memorial Boulevard. According to our ABC affiliate WBKO, the fire was at a Valor Oil. 

BGFD spokesperson Katie McKee said two employees were evaluated but refused transportation.

The St. Joseph Interparochial School, which is near where the fire was reported, was evacuated.

According to Mayor Todd Alcott and City Manager Jeff Miesel, crews have contained the fire. That was just after 7:30 p.m. eastern standard time.

Fire is currently under control. Crews will remain on scene to monitor for any possible rekindling. Traffic is still impacted in this area.

McKee said the fire department's hazmat crew assisted in some fuel runoff, which was due to the fire. Eleven units responded to the scene.

Bowling Green Police said Veterans Memorial Lane between Church and Gordon Avenue is closed.

The oil company is about a mile and a half from Western Kentucky University.
