FORT KNOX, Ky. — A "decades-old" unexploded hand grenade was destroyer after being found at Fort Knox on Tuesday morning.
South Knox Street, from Spearhead Division Avenue extending north for about 500 feet, was closed due to the grenade found in that area, according to a news release.
Officials said a military Explosive Ordinance Disposal team successfully destroyed the hand grenade at about 1:40 p.m.
The Fort Knox Directorate of Emergency Services has given the "all clear," and S. Knox Street has reopened.
