Hunting, fishing licenses for 2024-2025 season in Kentucky available now

A license covers basic hunting or fishing for many species, but additional state permits are needed for select species.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Get your gear ready Kentucky, the 2024-2025 fishing and hunting licenses are now available.

According to a news release, the license year runs from March 1, 2024 to Feb. 28, 2025. Both this year's and next year's licenses cover Feb. 29, 2024.

A license covers basic hunting or fishing for many species, but additional state permits are needed for select species.

Kentucky seniors ages 65 and older can now get the Senior Lifetime Sportsman’s License for $180 according to the release. That not only covers the basics, but also has permits for trout, deer, spring and fall turkey, migratory game birds and waterfowl.

There are also more new license options for resident and nonresident bear hunters:

  • Youth bear permit (nonresident) - $100
  • Bear chase permit (nonresident) - $50
  • Youth bear chase permit (nonresident) - $15
  • Combination bear chase and bear hunting permits (resident) - $50
