LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The struggles of the LGBTQ+ community have inspired the filing of three new bills in the Kentucky legislature.
Representative Lisa Willner and co-sponsors are calling for a proposed statewide Fairness Law, a ban on conversion therapy for Kentuckians younger than 18 and for public schools to provide age-appropriate, medically accurate and LGBTQ+-inclusive health education for their students.
“Parents come up to me a lot, students come up to me a lot, talk to me privately about their experiences. they're so grateful someone is out there fighting for them, that there are those in legislature who are championing these issues and standing up for our kids," she said.
These bills may be filed now, but they will not be discussed until the next legislative session in January.
