Kentucky State Fair plan approved, but governor says 'it will look very different this year'

The Kentucky State Fair will take place August 20-30.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Governor Andy Beshear announced the state has approved a proposal to allow the Kentucky State Fair to take place August 20-30.

“We have approved the State Fair proposal. It will look very different this year, but the main thing is that we are keeping the agricultural competition and so many of the things that make the fair great,” the governor said.

According to the governor, the fair will not be able to use the part of the Expo Center which is set up as the state field hospital in case there is a need for it during the pandemic. He said the state does not currently need to use the field hospital, but they would rather not take it down in the event it is needed later.
