Kentucky State Police hiring facilities security officers; What to know

Officers who end up getting hired will go through a two-week training academy that would begin in October.

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Tuesday that Kentucky State Police (KSP) is looking to hire facilities security officers.

The KSP Security Branch provides protection to state office buildings in Frankfort, ensuring that "state employees and visitors have a safe and secure place to work and visit," according to a news release.

The starting salary would be $42,860.

The deadline to apply is July 10, and officers who end up getting hired will go through a two-week training academy that would begin in October.

“I am thankful for the important role these officers play in protecting the commonwealth and its public servants,” Beshear said. “Thanks to the work of facilities security officers, the work done by Kentuckians and for Kentuckians is able to get done efficiently and safely.”

“Providing security to Kentucky’s state office buildings and to our fellow state employees is not a responsibility that the Security Branch takes lightly,” Lt. Alison Ramsey, security branch commander, said. “Any Kentuckian seeking to do their part in creating a better, safer Kentucky is encouraged to apply to become a Facilities Security Officer.”
