Kentucky student struck, killed by school bus near Lexington

Clark County School officials said the student was heading to George Rogers Clark High School when she was struck by the bus Tuesday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A George Rogers Clark High School student has tragically died after being hit by a school bus.

In a letter released by Clark County Public School Superintendent Dustin Howard, the incident happened at the intersection of Ironworks Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway in Winchester Tuesday morning.

Howard said the district is “profoundly sad” and offering grief counselors and mental health support for GRC and other schools that may need it.

“Please keep the student’s family, along with the entirety of our school system and community, in your thoughts and prayers as we work through this very difficult time,” Howard said.

The name of the student has not been released.
