LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police are entering week two in their search for a dangerous suspect accused of shooting multiple people on a busy interstate in southeastern Kentucky.
The small community of London has been shaken since investigators said 32-year-old Joseph Couch fired at vehicles with an AR-15 from a ledge overlooking I-75, wounding five people. Police revealed they received a tip less than 30 minutes before the shooting about a text Couch sent to a woman saying he would “kill a lot of people.”
Luckily, there were no fatalities in the shooting.
Police recovered the AR-15, ammunition and a vehicle registered in Couch’s name near the scene.
Four of the five victims have since been released from the hospital with the last victim expected to survive.
Over the weekend, Kentucky State Police stepped up patrols at high school football games while telling the public to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
Various law enforcement agencies, including the Kentucky Division of Forestry, have increased search efforts and are expected to press deeper into the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Surveillance, intelligence, ATV, canines, or bloodhounds, police are hoping there is a successful conclusion to Couch’s capture.
They believe he is still alive, armed and dangerous.
