Paducah police arrest 2 following 'disturbance' outside Kentucky Oaks Mall, no injuries reported

There isn't an active shooter situation and there is no apparent threat to the community, authorities said.

PADUCAH, Ky. — The Paducah Police Department have arrested two people following a "disturbance" outside of the Kentucky Oaks Mall on Wednesday morning.  

There was an altercation involving three people and a firearm was discharged, according to a news release. The suspect with the firearm is in custody, authorities said. There isn't an active shooter situation and there is no apparent threat to the community. 

Gov. Andy Beshear posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying:

"Law enforcement in Paducah and McCracken Co. have detained two individuals following an incident at the Kentucky Oaks Mall. Thankfully, there are no injuries. Thank you to our brave law enforcement for being prepared, responding quickly and protecting the lives of Kentuckians.^AB"
