FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. — (WHAS11)--After several delays, Kentucky has finally started to roll-out the Real ID's.
Franklin County kicked off the Real ID process and many people waited in line to swap out their license for the new standard or travel ID's.

Despite being one of the last states to get compliant with the federal requirements the state's transportation cabinet says Kentucky's ID's will be of the most secure in the country.
In Kentucky, the real ID is, in fact, voluntary but by October 1 of 2020, you won't be able to use the standard license to fly domestically anymore.
The Franklin County Circuit Court clerk says June 28 roll-out process has already moved along smoothly with only minor challenges.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it expects the ID's to rollout in the rest of the state by the end of late summer.
