National Weather Service confirms EF-2 tornado near Russellville following Saturday's severe weather outbreak

Officials said the tornado is connected to the Clarksville, Tennessee tornado which caused major damage

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Saturday’s outbreak of severe weather had crews from the National Weather Service Louisville on the ground in Logan County to survey damage.

According to their preliminary reports, an EF-2 tornado with wind speeds near 115 mph was on the ground just southwest of Russellville.

They believe the tornado was on the ground in Logan County for about 18 miles.

The NWS said this tornado is connected to the Clarksville, Tennessee tornado which was initially an EF-3 with winds about 150 mph. After lifting in Logan County, officials said it did not continue into Simpson County.

NWS officials also confirmed the same storm spawned a second tornado in southern Bowling Green which has been rated as a preliminary EF-1 with 90 mph winds.
